From kindergarten through 8th grade, each of our students has their own iPad, which empowers them to explore new ideas and take on projects with ease. This approach reflects our core values of academic success, character growth, and self-motivation.Here’s just a few examples of how our students use Apple products: 1st Grade Digital Holiday Cards Our 1st grade students used green screen technology and iMovie to create digital holiday cards. They chose backgrounds and took photos and videos. They used iMovie to leave their card on SeeSaw for their parents to view before the winter break. Learn more. 2nd Grade Macy’s Day Parade Our students in 2nd grade participated in a virtual Macy’s day parade using green screen technology and iMovie. They used balloons to build their display and then used the green screen to place them at the Macy’s Day Parade in NYC. Once their videos were in order, our students recorded their voices to announce each other’s balloons at the parade like real news reporters. Learn more. 1st & 2nd Grade Stop Motions Our students used iMovie, stop motion, and other apps to create short stop motions using only paper. This was also a collaborative activity with our “TECH BUDDIES” in 3rd through 5th grade. Learn more. 3rd–5th Grade Design Thinking Students in our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms took full advantage of our Apple Distinguished School status. During engineering design challenges, they documented each step using their iPads. They then created detailed presentations to showcase their problem-solving process. With screen sharing, they presented their work and discussed potential improvements. Learn more. 5th Grade Eagle News Our 5th grade students use iPads and iMovie to create a news program that is shared with our entire school. They are in charge of creating a script, filming, editing, lighting, audio, and more. Students use GarageBand to create their own music for the news program. Students are even mentored by our local news station! Learn more. 7th Grade Black History Month Books In 7th grade, our students created a children’s book about a historical figure for Black History Month. They made the book pages in Canva and converted the files into a KeyNote presentation for other students to enjoy. Learn more.
