The Arts Home / Academics / The Arts When Learning Begins in Wonder, Grades and Imaginations Soar At Park Maitland School, we believe that learning should be full of wonder. When children are curious, they ask questions, use their imagination, and discover new things. Our students learn science, technology, engineering, and math, but the arts are just as important. Drawing, painting, music, and acting help them express their thoughts and feelings in creative ways. By combining these subjects, we help them grow into smart, creative, well-rounded learners. They don’t just practice skills—they also learn how to think in new ways and solve problems. Through our arts program, our students build confidence in sharing their ideas. They might communicate through molding clay, paint a picture of something they imagine, or act out a character on stage. Every day, they explore, create, and experiment with wonder and creativity. Performing Arts The Park Maitland campus is like a magical stage. Our teachers encourage our junior thespians to grow in confidence and bring their unique talents to the spotlight. In drama class, they act out different roles, solve problems through roleplay and improv, and use their creativity to tell stories. In music, they train their voices, learn about notes and rhythms, and practice singing. One of our favorite moments of the year is our musical performance. Our students experience the ultimate moment of awe after memorizing lines, lyrics, and choreography. This transformation is undeniably driven by wonder! Fine Arts Each of our students becomes a part of our fine arts community. We teach the foundations of varied artistic media through our Artyology program. We encourage our students to build their fine motor skills and create artistic masterpieces. Through lessons, we share the idea that art finds its home in sharing the wonder. Our students stretch their imaginations, never settling on the first creative solution to assignment. They learn that art is a vehicle to tell stories, represent a passion, and make a difference. Programs like Young Masters, the Winter Park Holiday Art Competition, the Wells Fargo Art Show, the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival, and Art for a Cause, give our students the chance to share their art with our community. These events help our students see that their work can bring joy and inspire ideas.
