History & Traditions

History

Park Maitland School was founded in 1968 by Mrs. Nell Cohen as a private school that would value academic excellence and love and respect for each child. Over fifty years later these principals remain our cornerstones.

We develop character and leadership skills in our young students that serve them well in their higher future education and in life. Park Maitland is proud of its engaging, family-centered environment of warmth and caring.

We feel proud every time one of our students greets someone with beautiful manners and conversation skills. We love it when even our students lead our school in assemblies or announcements. We are enchanted when they display kindness and patience with older citizens as well as little ones. We are extremely pleased when they achieve academically. We “pop our buttons” when our students go on to excel in middle and high school, in their careers, and in life!

Traditions

A Tradition of Excellence, Founded on Wonder.

Park Maitland has grown from a single building in 1968 to a major educational presence today. Along the way, our campus has changed, the technology has evolved, but the traditions have remained.

Students learn values and build character participating in many annual events. Our beloved K-5 Mother’s Day Tea and the 2nd grade Across Generations celebration bring families together in meaningful ways. Jelly Fudge Friends connects older and younger classmates. Festival of Nations and India and Greek Fests broaden students’ cultural horizons. Imaginations take flight during the Kennedy Space Center field trip, and literacy takes the spotlight through Author Teas, Read-Ins, and Letter People parades. From school plays and beach bonding to pumpkin carving contests, wonder-filled moments become unforgettable memories for students and their families.
